The Blake Lively led “It Ends With Us,” based on the book by Colleen Hoover, has kicked off filming in Hoboken with further shoots planned as well.
Late last week, several blocks of Bloomfield Street were inundated with film crews shooting “It Ends With Us” based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel of the same name. The 2016 New York Times Bestseller tells the story of Lily, a woman who moves to a new city following college graduation and meets and falls in love with a man named Ryle.
Her newfound bliss isn’t long lived, however, as a blast from the past comes back in the form of her ex-lover who turns her world upside down.
Lively, known for her film roles and well as TV shows like Gossip Girl, will be playing Lily. Justin Baldoni, best known for his work on the TV show Jane The Virgin is also co-starring on the film along with 1923’s Brandon Sklenar and Jenny Slate.
The written version of “It Ends With Us” was a huge hit, as it was the top-selling print book in 2022 and landed on the New York Times Bestseller List for more than 90 weeks. The movie version will be calling Hoboken home through this week, with production slated to shift later this month.
“It Ends With Us” will be filming around Hackensack in two weeks before heading out to several Morris County areas of New Jersey as production continues.
The movie is the second recent production to utilize New Jersey’s urban landscape as a backdrop, as AMC recently set up shop in Hamilton Park to film scenes for their latest Walking Dead spinoff just a few weeks ago.
