Residents of Jersey City’s Ward F might soon have a new café and art gallery nearby.
An 800-square-foot business called Bergen Arts Café is planned for the ground floor of the house at 475 Bergen Avenue, according to documents released by Jersey City’s municipal government. The three-story house is located at the corner of Bergen and Oxford avenues between Bergen-Lafayette and the West Side.
“The front and rear yard areas are proposed to be used for outdoor café seating, when permitted,” according to a principal points statement.
Jersey City tax filings list applicant Jean F. Maurice as one of the owners of the house. Maurice’s application for multiple variances was scheduled to go before the Jersey City Zoning Board of Adjustment during a Zoom meeting on Thursday, July 8, at 6:30 p.m., according to a notice of hearing.
Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the Jersey City Zoning Board of Adjustment and other commissions are subject to change.
