A longstanding industrial structure that is situated on a largely residential block in North Bergen could be replaced with a new four-story apartment building.
The Capitol Box Corp. property at 1300 6th Street is the subject of an application that is scheduled to be heard by the township’s Zoning Board of Adjustment during a Zoom meeting this Tuesday, October 13 at 6:00 p.m. The proposed project at the site would include 27 residential units, according to the meeting agenda.
Site plans from Kaltsis Architecture that were released by North Bergen’s municipal government show that the development would contain 27 parking spaces on the ground floor. The apartments would range from 410-square-foot studios to 860-square-foot one-bedroom units.
A sign on the façade of Capitol Box Corp. advertised that the company produced “plain & fancy paper boxes.” Their premises are situated between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Grand Avenue near the city limits of both Jersey City and Union City.
New Jersey Transit buses to Jersey City’s Journal Square and Manhattan’s Port Authority Bus Terminal operate along nearby John F. Kennedy Boulevard.
