A health-conscious restaurant that was born in the Garden State will be opening their first Jersey City outpost as Playa Bowls will be launching inside space formerly home to a longtime local business.
On March 30, Playa Bowls will celebrate their grand opening at 2720 John F. Kennedy Boulevard. The brand is a product of the Jersey Shore, as company founders Robert Giuliani and Abby Taylor started the original Playa Bowls in Belmar and have grown the restaurant to over 200 stores nationwide.
The restaurant’s menu includes açaí, pitaya, and coconut bowls alongside smoothies that utilize the freshest ingredients with sustainability and community in mind. Other drinks on tap at Plata Bowls include cold brews and cold pressed juices.
The brand’s arrival is perhaps a tad bittersweet for the neighborhood, as Playa Bowls replaces Stuyvesant Liquors and their landmark and decidedly retro neon sign. That family-owned business had operated at the Kennedy Boulevard address for over 40 years.
Time nonetheless marches on, with the grand opening of Playa Bowls set to begin this Saturday at 10 a.m. The business can be followed on Instagram at their Jersey City-specific handle @playabowls_jerseycity.
