One of the more famous venues in Asbury Park is slated to get a bunch of new neighbors as a modern mixed-use project is slated to rise just steps away from the Atlantic Ocean.

During their July 17 meeting, Asbury Park’s planning board approved an application to revamp about two acres of land at 115 Fourth Avenue. The plot is owned by Inspired by Somerset Development, who revitalized the noteworthy Bell Works property in Holmdel.

Jersey Digs initially reported last spring on the emergence of the project, which is planned to rise on a current parking lot next to the Wonder Bar. Set to rise eight stories and 130 feet at the tallest point, the project features design from NYC-based Clodagh and architecture from Lambertville-based Minno & Wasko.

“This project represents our unwavering commitment to creating magnetic and thoughtfully designed living spaces that redefine the surrounding markets,” said Ralph Zucker, CEO of Inspired by Somerset Development. “Following unanimous site plan approval, we’re thrilled to get started on what we believe will be a transformational property not only for Asbury Park but all of New Jersey.”

Inspired by Somerset Development’s project will consist of 155 residences that aim to provide a “beach club” lifestyle for residents. The one, two and three-bedroom residences are set to feature high-end finishes, expansive wrap-around balconies, and panoramic ocean views, with select units sporting feature private plunge pools and 16-foot ceilings.

Top floor units at the complex hope to hope to create a “villa in the sky” feel complete with private rooftop terraces overlooking the Asbury Park landscape. A fourth floor indoor/outdoor amenity area will include a resident club room, spa, outdoor grills and fire pits, a state-of-the-art fitness center and golf simulator, a courtyard, and two pools.

270 parking spaces in an interior garage are included in the project, which will add 9,340 square feet of retail space along Ocean Avenue split between two storefronts. The exterior of the building is slated to utilize a mix of textured fiber cement panels, cast stone, metal canopies, and glass components.

“The Inspired team is so excited to enter this thriving community and work with existing businesses and residents to drive the area toward its fullest potential,” said Ken Gold, Vice President of Acquisitions and Development at Inspired by Somerset Development. “We look forward to beginning sales and sharing more details in the months to come.”

Construction on the development is tentatively scheduled to commence in 2024.
