Vacant lots, a sole brownstone, automotive businesses, a church, and a couple of houses make up the stretch of South 12th Street between Springfield and Woodland avenues in Newark. Now, a multi-family development could be added to the mix.
A company registered out of a Union County address that is associated with a number of other Newark development proposals is seeking to construct a four-story building on its properties at 666, 668-670, 672-674, and 676 South 12th Street, according to a public notice.
666-676 S. 12th Development, LLC is envisioning 24 residential units and a ground-floor parking garage, the notice says. The company is looking to receive preliminary and final site plan approval with use, height, facade transparency, and setback variances from the Newark Zoning Board of Adjustment.
The LLC’s address in Roselle Park has been used by GonSosa Development and was referenced in applications for a 29-unit development on South 20th Street and a 34-unit mixed-use project on South Orange Avenue.
The ZBA is expected to hear the plans for South 12th Street during a virtual meeting on Thursday, November 18, according to the notice. The hearing is scheduled to begin over Zoom at 6:00 p.m.
Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the Newark Zoning Board of Adjustment and other commissions are subject to change.
