Last week, the Jersey City Zoning Board approved a two story addition to the historic former firehouse at 155 Morgan Street. Before being sold last year, the building was the headquarters of Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit production company.
Flavor Unit had called Jersey City home since 1996. Latifah even lived in The Heights for a period of time.
Investors bought the two-story property for $2.25 million and aside from some light clean-out work, the property has remained largely untouched. Now their intentions are a bit more clear, the building will remain commercial office space.
No renderings of the proposed addition could be found. Considering the property’s historic nature and the requirement that changes go through the Historic Preservation Commission, it’ll be interesting to see what the architect comes up with.
