As 532 Jersey Avenue finishes up construction, we’ve been keeping a close eye on what will be moving into its retail space. New signage indicates that Smart Start Academy will filling the Jersey Avenue facing storefront.
Smart Start Academy, an early learning and daycare program, will move into the 10,075 square foot space creating what it claims will be the “largest state of the art preschool in Downtown Jersey City”. They currently have three locations, one in Hoboken, one in the Heights and one a block away at 180 Newark Avenue.
With the influx of new residents to Jersey City, a large portion of them being new families, the demand for preschools is robust. Many new developments with larger retail spaces are seeing demand from preschools. Viaquenti Academy recently opened a second location at Cast Iron Lofts and Kiddie Academy opened in Hamilton House.
532 Jersey Ave was developed by Urban Square Properties and will contain 76 rental units. The property has frontage on both Jersey Ave and Christopher Columbus Drive. A lower level parking garage provides space for 35 vehicles.
