RealCold broke ground on a 380,000-square-foot, temperature-controlled, fully-convertible facility in East Hanover. Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2026, the new building will be the first RealCold location in the Northeast.

The company has two other significant cold storage projects currently under construction, including a 386,000-square-foot facility in Lakeland, FL, and a 312,000-square-foot facility in Lockhart, TX. Both facilities will be up and running in the first quarter of 2025. When these three projects are finished, RealCold will operate cold storage space totaling nearly 1.6 million square feet across eight sites.

Upon completion, the East Hanover location will have five fully convertible rooms offering temperatures from -20°F to +55°F. The building will feature over 40 dock doors, 50-foot clearance, a 70-foot refrigerated dock, and secured trailer parking. As with their other two under-construction buildings, it will be a LEED Silver-certified facility. This addition to the RealCold network will allow the company to serve tens of millions of consumers more quickly. In the new warehouse RealCold will occupy 380,000 square feet of cold storage space, the site will also include another 220,000 square feet of industrial space available for lease.

“We are thrilled to kick off this project in East Hanover, which is in no small part due to our various partners whose collaboration led us to this premier site in northern New Jersey. Our collective research, input from customers, and demand from the market, has reinforced that this is the most strategic location to bring significant cold storage on-line. We believe it will be a game-changer for importers/exporters, grocers, food manufacturers, and online retailers with operations in the region.” stated Keith Goldsmith, Chief Executive of RealCold.

“Morris County is pleased to welcome RealCold to our growing family of esteemed corporate citizens,” offered Morris County Commissioner Tayfun Selen. “We wish them the best of luck in their new endeavor, as they renew the life of this important commercial site for a new generation of economic activity while also bringing in jobs and boosting the local tax ratable base.”

RealCold was founded in 2022, focusing on food cold chain solutions. With a high-growth strategy, Class A facilities and extensive storage programs, the company has proven to be a collaborative, customer-centric provider for food retailers, producers, and distributors. The RealCold platform operates a national network, which can reach most U.S. consumers within 2 days.
