A Germany-based chain of supermarkets will be continuing their New Jersey expansion next year as Lidl is slated to open inside a modern development that just wrapped construction along the Hackensack River.

The company, which has opened a host of Garden State outposts in recent years, will be bringing their market to the Print House in Hackensack. Developed in a partnership between Russo Development and The Hampshire Companies, the complex sits on the former headquarters of The Bergen Record on River Road.

Lidl has over 10,000 stores in more than two dozen countries and joins other tenants at the Hackensack property that include a Hackensack Meridian Health medical clinic, a drive-thru Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s, and Blue Foundry Bank.

“Adding the final residential component to Print House is a major milestone for us and our partners at Hampshire,” said Adam Pasternack from Russo Development when announcing the move. “Print House is exceeding all expectations in Hackensack and provides our residents a community with our large campus, unique apartment styles and incredible amenity offerings plus the added convenience of our food and service retail tenants.”

“We are very appreciative of the City of Hackensack’s partnership and collaboration to see this project through with us to deliver this multifaceted mixed use residential offering,” he added. “We are also thrilled to give our residents and the local community the convenience of dynamic on-site retail, including the new addition of Lidl.”

The second and final phase of Print House is now complete and is adding 425 luxury homes to the landscape. The entirety of the project now spans 696 units and includes soon to be open courtyards, an amphitheater, and outdoor seating along the riverfront.

Lidl expects to open their store within the complex sometime in 2025. Print House still has an additional 11,204 square feet of retail space available for lease that is being offered through NAI James E. Hanson.
