A two-building project called ‘Jefferson Lofts’ is planned for 206 Jefferson Street, between Second Street and Third Street, and at 504 Second Street, between Jefferson Street and Madison Street, in the city’s Ward 4. Records from the Hoboken Planning Board show that both buildings are slated to be five stories tall, and that the Second Street building would include nine residential units, while the Jefferson Street structure would contain just two units. A shared parking area with 11 spaces is also proposed. Currently, the L-shaped site, located across the street from the Hoboken Fire Department’s Engine Company 3, consists of a driveway and a garage that would be removed to make way for the new buildings, should the project be approved.

The project developer, Jefferson Lofts, LLC, was registered with the State of New Jersey out of the Union City offices of Kocher Construction Company back in 2013. Minervini Vandermark of Hoboken is the architect for the development, according to city records.

This development comes after several other projects were announced for the Jefferson Street corridor. Construction is underway for a new five-story infill residential building with eight units at the site of a parking lot at 86-90 Jefferson Street, and a similar project is nearly complete at 108 Jefferson Street. Several blocks north, a multifamily building at 528 Jefferson Street was demolished, and a new residential project is almost finished at the site. In addition, city records indicate that a 16-unit building is planned for 722-730 Jefferson Street, and a new seven-story self-storage facility is coming to 1313-1319 Jefferson Street.
