One of the largest discount chains in the country is setting up shop near the Hudson River waterfront and will be spending this week looking for future employees for their August launch.
Five Below, a Philadelphia-based company with over 1,000 locations across the United States, is coming to the Newport Plaza complex at 125 18th Street. The store will be taking up residence in the southernmost storefront at the property that was formerly home to the now-bankrupt Pier 1 Imports.
The store focuses on items that are priced below $5, also selling select goods costing as much as $10. Five Below carries everything but the kitchen sink with an inventory that includes toys, games, beauty products, and school supplies to beach towels, clothes, pet goods, and candy.
The Newport outpost will be the company’s 47th store in New Jersey and the second location in Hudson County, as Kearny’s Plaza Shopping Center also houses a Five Below. The Jersey City store will be opening on August 13 and will be hosting an in-person hiring event all week long.
Those interested in working at Five Below can stop by on July 19-23 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to learn more about working at the store. The company has also begun accepting online applications through its jobs listing page.
Five Below’s Jersey City hours when they are up and running are anticipated to span from 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
