Two properties in Belleville that are located within a few blocks of the limits of Newark, Kearny, and North Arlington might become home to the township’s latest development project.

A company submitted an application to the Township of Belleville that calls for a six-story building to be constructed at 68 William Street and 10-16 Washington Street, according to a municipal meeting agenda.

The applicant is identified in the agenda as 74 William Street Belleville, LLC. The company is reportedly planning to tear down the existing buildings on the premises in order to develop 40 residential units and an unspecified amount of ground-floor commercial space.

The parcels, which include a parking lot, a house, a garage, and an auto repair business, are situated in a neighborhood between Washington Avenue and Route 21 that has an industrial, commercial, and residential presence.

These plans are scheduled to go before the Belleville Planning Board during a meeting on Thursday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m. The developer is looking to receive preliminary and final site plan approval with variances related to retail space, setback, and parking, according to a notice of hearing.

Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the Belleville Planning Board and other commissions are subject to change.
