Construction is has finally resumed at 28 Bright Street following an excavation incident last summer that caused a partial collapse of the neighboring property’s garage. With construction now moving forward, Franklin Development Group is one step closer to bringing the new project to life.
Planned for the site is a new 31 condominium project called Liberty Manor Condominiums. The project was one of four that received funds from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund in 2014 and the only one Downtown. They were allocated $798,000 from the trust. In return, eight of its units will be classified as affordable under the programs, all one-bedrooms.
In addition to the new residential units, the 5-story project will have 15 parking spaces and 1,332 square feet of office space, according to city records. It was designed by Tower Architecture Group.
Franklin Development Group specializes in working with “Local, State, and Federal commissions” to “provide top quality residences made affordable to middle wage earning families.” They also have a history of building in Jersey City. Other projects they’ve built include: the Harriet Tubman Homes on Martin Luther King Drive, College Court Condos at 23 Duncan Ave, and Cambridge Manor at 102 Cambridge Ave.
