Bayonne’s status as North Jersey’s next emerging residential hotspot solidified last Friday when city officials met with the Port Authority to discuss a proposed ferry route to Manhattan.

Development in Bayonne continues with four new projects moving forward throughout the city at 175 West 7th Street, 77 East 21st Street, 82-84 East 31st Street, and 477-481 Broadway.

After the community lost a battle to save a prominent historical home in 2015, historic preservation has become a hot topic in Bayonne. But with only one official historic district and limited legal means to protect properties, preservationists are doing their best to ensure Bayonne's history survives.

Two approved projects could potentially rise soon along Kennedy Boulevard in Bayonne. One is a 48-unit mixed-use building at 79-87 Kennedy and the other a 7-unit at 717-719 Kennedy.

Yesterday, Bayonne city officials alongside representatives from Ingerman bundled up in the cold to break ground on the six-story '19 East' project located off Broadway at 19 East 19th Street.

A new residential project, marketed towards young professionals, is planned for Bayonne near the 45th St Light Rail station. The 5-story project will house 65 residential units.

Another new project is planned in Bayonne as development in the city continues to pick up. A report published by The Jersey Journal states that an 180-unit building is planned for 162-170 Avenue F, between 23rd and 24th Street, in the city's 2nd Ward.

A new residential building was proposed earlier this year for 662-666 Avenue C in Bayonne. The building is slated to be 5.5 stories tall and will contain 33 residential units.

On September 24th, Cheryl and Christopher Mack unveiled the grand opening of Bayonne based The Bridge Art Gallery, showcasing local work from Bayonne and Montclair artists.
