Burgers Grilled Right, also known as BGR The Burger Joint, opened last month at 9 West South Orange Avenue in the Essex County village of South Orange. The restaurant is located on the first floor of The Gateway, a mixed-use residential and retail development that opened in 2014 in the community’s Downtown, next to the main train station, at the site of a long-vacant lot.
This is the chain’s first outpost in the Garden State. The Lansdowne, Virginia-based company has 21 franchises in Georgia, Kuwait, Maryland, New York, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
“We believe South Orange is a promising location for BGR and we look forward to introducing a new better burger alternative to the community, and to the students of Seton Hall”, said BGR Franchising President Ed Kelley in a statement.
The South Orange location is owned by SanFam, LLC, and is open from 11:00am to 10:00pm from Sunday to Wednesday, and from 11:00am to midnight from Thursday to Saturday, according to the South Orange Village Center Alliance.
The space was previously occupied by a location of Mara’s Cafe and Bakery, which shut its doors after being open for just 10 months.
