A modern project that will revitalize a vacant property at the southern end of Grove Street has reached its tallest point as work on the latest tower in Jersey City’s Liberty Harbor neighborhood is humming along.
Strategic Capital and Plaza Construction have completed the vertical structural elements at their One Grove Street development in Jersey City. The endeavor, approved last year, is the last portion of a property that housed the Jersey City Boys and Girls Club for decades before it was moved to the nearby 235 Grand building as part of a redevelopment deal.
Designed by Hoboken-based Marchetto Higgins Stieve in conjunction with New York’s Archilier Architecture, One Grove Street will span 12 floors and include 200 residential units. The development promises to feature environmentally sustainable features and an interior design aesthetic that creates “an atmosphere of serenity with an uncluttered sense of comfort, beauty, and enveloping luxury.”
Recently released interior renderings show a combination of raw textures, and earthly hues integrated with beige, cream, black, taupe, and grey color palates. Ceramic, wood, and stone textures align to provide authentic materiality.
“We are extremely proud and thankful for all the hard work and effort that everyone involved has contributed to reach this major milestone in the project,” said David Brown, Deputy Managing Director of Strategic Capital. “Our partners at Plaza Construction are known for their strong work ethic and a widely diverse skill set which enabled us to operate effectively and meet this important deadline.”
Amenities at One Grove Street will include luxury bespoke finishes, smart home features, private balconies, an outdoor landscaped rooftop terrace, lounge area, private dining room, a gym, and a coworking space. The development will feature a bike room and parking garage with shared transportation options plus ground floor retail.
The latest development to rise in Downtown Jersey City falls at the foot of Grove Street and will front Grand Street, which was overhauled to add a bike lane just about two years ago. The Marin Boulevard Light Rail Station is just a few blocks away and the newly renovated Morris Square Park and the just-opened Cavany Foods are across the street.
Construction at One Grove Street is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2023.
