One of the biggest business voids along the main corridor in Jersey City’s northernmost neighborhood will soon be filled by an upstart gym that hopes to be up and running in the coming weeks.
Late last month, signage went up along 338-342 Central Avenue touting the impending arrival of Heights Fitness. The facility will be coming to the second floor of a property formerly home to a Lucille Roberts outpost just off the road’s intersection with Lincoln Street.
Blueprints released by the gym reveal that the facility will be adding a front desk plus a smoothie bar to the existing space. The company’s social media accounts have already begun teasing the interior of the gym, which is set to include a weight training area, power racks, leg curl machines, and a plethora of other machines.
Heights Fitness will be keeping an existing sauna already at the building and expanding locker rooms to include space for both men and women. Construction is well underway at Heights Fitness, which looks to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic in a strong position to serve the neighborhood.
The Heights is home to several fitness facilities that include kickboxing, yoga, boot camps, and karate, but the latest entry along Central Avenue will be the neighborhood’s first true unisex gym facility.
Heights Fitness touts their lack of contracts or enrollment fees on their new website, as the facility will charge $9.99 for a day pass and just $49.00 for a monthly membership that can be canceled at any time.
The boutique-minded Heights Fitness is aiming for an August opening and can be followed on Instagram at the handle @heightsfitnessjc for future updates.
