On April Fools Day this year, rapper and reality star Ray J announced the opening of his new retail concept Raytroniks in Los Angeles. Piggybacking on the popularity of hoverboards, the company’s first product is an electric-powered hybrid bike/moped that they’re calling the Scoot-E-Bike.
Ray J is now bringing the concept to the East Coast, opening up their first retail location in Hoboken. The new location will be located in The Eureka at 256 Newark Street. Tony Soares and Andrew Botticelli of Prime Real Estate Group, the commercial brokers for the space, handled the transaction.
“We are really excited to have them in Hoboken as their first East Coast Showroom and store,” Soares said, “It’s a perfect fit for a city that has an active bike community and a focus on green transportation and new technologies.”
According to the website, the Scoot-E-Bike is a foldable bike weighing 56 pounds that can reach speeds of up to 15 mph and can go 22-28 miles on a single charge. There’s also USB and Bluetooth so you can play some tunes while cruising around town. They start at $1,599.
Whether its skateboards, unicycles or hoverboards, electronic transportation is all the rage. Ray J and company are hoping to find success in the space with celebrity endorsements of their products. Already, Chris Brown, Diddy, The Game, and Snoop have put their name behind the product.
The new store is scheduled to open July 1st.
