A group of properties located across the street from the Passaic River in Bergen County are the subject of a new multi-family development proposal.
The parcels in question are 844, 848, and 858 River Drive in Garfield, which sit opposite the Dundee Dam and have been used over the years by Riverview Auto Sales.
Meridia 848 Garfield, LLC is seeking to use the premises in order to construct a building that would contain 79 residential units, a parking garage with 79 spaces, and a fitness center, according to a notice of hearing.
The LLC, which has apparent ties to Linden’s Capodagli Property Company, is reportedly looking to receive preliminary and final major site plan approval with a parking exception from the Garfield Planning Board. The notice says that a public hearing is scheduled to take place over Zoom on Thursday, August 19, at 7:00 p.m.
The number of Meridia developments in New Jersey has skyrocketed in recent years, with Garfield already having one near the Plauderville train station.
Unlike several of the state’s other Meridia complexes, the River Drive one would not be located close to public transportation. However, the site is within a short drive of Route 21, Route 46, Interstate 80, and the Garden State Parkway.
Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the Garfield Panning Board and other commissions are subject to change.
