The company announced in an email to property owners that they are no long pursuing a 50-story redevelopment that would have added a 300-student school to a Downtown Jersey City neighborhood.

The city council has signed off on a scheme that would permit Lennar Multifamily Communities to build a tiered high-rise including 41 workforce housing units, a renovated park, and a 50,000-square foot public school.

The council could soon take a step toward replacing almost two acres of prefab homes between First and Second streets with a 50-story tiered high-rise that includes affordable housing and a new public school.
