Queen Latifah recently sold the historic firehouse that housed her Flavor Unit production company. Flavor Unit had called downtown Jersey City home since 1996.
Latifah grew up in East Orange and lived for a stint in the Heights. She has relocated the production company to South Beach, Miami.
The building at 155 Morgan Street in Downtown was built around the turn of the 20th century and originally housed Engine Company #1. It was one of the first firehouses in Jersey City.
Closing for $2.25 million, we’re excited to see what the new owners do with the property although they are limited due to the historic nature of the property. Any modifications need to first be approved by the Historic Preservation Commission.
Standing in stark contrast to the brand new towers surrounding it, the firehouse provides a unique charm that makes Jersey City such an incredible place to live.
The agents that handled the transaction were Janie Spataro and Luis Negron of Robert De Ruggiero Realtors in Union City.
