A new cannabis option has officially launched along the main street of Bloomfield as the independent, women-owned Nightjar Dispensary celebrated their grand opening over the weekend.
On January 12, the first sale was made at Bloomfield’s newest dispensary at 549 Bloomfield Avenue. The space was designed by cannabis industry veterans and New Jersey natives in hopes to seamlessly integrate into the Bloomfield community and offer customers a hospitality-driven experience that aims to normalize cannabis and reduce stigma about the plant.
“Cannabis has endless benefits, and it’s a safer alternative to alcohol and addictive pharmaceuticals,” says Francesca DeRogatis, COO of Nightjar. “Cannabis is medicine for many, a way to unwind, get creative, a tool to make life a little more vibrant – and everything in between.”
“For communities, cannabis brings much-needed tax revenue to support schools and other local infrastructure and can revitalize downtown communities, like Bloomfield Center, by bringing foot traffic to other nearby shops,” DeRogatis added. “Taking cannabis out of the shadows and into its prominent place in our community is what inspired us to open Nightjar.”
The team behind the dispensary hopes that the approach will make customers feel more comfortable exploring and purchasing cannabis products.
With New Jersey’s budding cannabis industry is still largely dominated by “big cannabis” corporations, Nightjar aims to help diversify cannabis ownership in the state and bring a social equity-driven approach. The dispensary is currently hiring and those interested can learn about career opportunities by visiting nightjarcannabis.com.
Nightjar is currently open to customers from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with Sunday hours spanning 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. They can be followed on Instagram at the handle @nightjar_nj.
