The Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood will officially welcome a new dessert shop, with giveaways and other promotions, as Mochi Dough will soon introduce itself to Jersey City.
The Asian-inspired donut and coffee shop, situated at 68 Monitor Street, will host a grand opening fiesta over the weekend, following a soft opening earlier this year. It kicks off on March 27 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Solomon and will include various promotions through Sunday.
Jersey Digs broke the news way back in 2024 about the brand’s arrival, marking its first foray into the Garden State. Mochi Dough serves donuts with a “pon de ring” shape and uses rice flour instead of traditional yeast to create a uniquely airy, chewy interior with a perfectly crisp exterior.

The shop’s goodies have rotating flavors like taro and black sesame plus seasonal concoctions like chocolate churro or red velvet Oreo. The sweets are complemented by high-quality bubble teas and a Korean egg drop sandwich that has become a quick hit with locals.
To kick off the opening on March 27, the first 100 customers get a surprise cup upgrade with any drink order. Mochi Dough is also offering a deal to buy two sandwiches and get one slider free, along with other in-store deals over the weekend.
Mochi Dough joins the full-service restaurant The Roxy at the address, which was once a warehouse property that was expanded into a mixed-use complex called The Starling. The Roxy, from the team behind Corto, opened at the property just about two years ago.
Bergen-Lafayette is one of Jersey City’s most transitioning neighborhoods, with a plethora of construction and planned developments. The opening of Mochi Dough closes out construction at one of the area’s more prominent adaptive reuse projects.
Mochi Dough is closed on Mondays but otherwise open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with hours until 7 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. They can be followed on Instagram at the handle @mochidoughkokoromomoeggdrop.
