A lot that has long been vacant along a busy Bergen County thoroughfare could soon be transformed.
North Star Partners Associates, LLC is seeking to construct a 13-story mixed-use building at 450 and 458 River Road across from the Edgewater Commons shopping center, according to a legal notice from the Borough of Edgewater. If approved, the building would include 78,500 sq. ft. of office space along with two hotels. One hotel would include 184 rooms while the other is described in the notice as a “condominium hotel” with 171 units. The new hotels would join the community’s three existing lodging options. Parking would be provided for all of the uses on the premises.
Despite the property’s location, it has remained undeveloped for quite some time. Over the years, the site, part of which contains a small garage, has often been used to store vehicles and construction equipment
The developer is registered out of the same Edgewater address as Daibes Enterprises. In a recent lawsuit, nearby developer 615 River Road Partners, LLC alleged that Daibes is engaging in “corrupt transactions, self-dealing, and conflicts of interest” with the Borough, according to the Associated Press.
North Star Partners Associates is represented by attorney Mark J. Sokolich, who happens to serve as the mayor of neighboring Fort Lee. His client is scheduled to seek Site Plan approval from the Edgewater Planning Board during its next meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 7:00 p.m.
