In the Elmora section of Elizabeth, apartment buildings line much of West Jersey Street between West End Place and Dehart Place. However, a house continues to stand at 308-312 West Jersey Street, but possibly not for much longer.
The home, which was used in recent years as a medical office by Union County Healthcare Associates, could be demolished and replaced with a residential development should a new proposal be approved.
Developer 310 W. Jersey Ave. Realty, LLC submitted plans to the City of Elizabeth that call for a five-story building to be constructed on the premises, according to a notice of hearing.
The development would consist of 17 apartments, a parking garage with 26 spaces, an elevator, and a community room. Each apartment would contain two bedrooms.
Tax records show that 310 W. Jersey Ave. Realty, LLC, which has a listed address in Clark, acquired the premises from Abraham Goodgold in August 2020 for $900,000. The company is now seeking preliminary and final major site plan approval with multiple variances.
A public hearing regarding the proposal is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 6, the notice states. The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
