A property situated along the main thoroughfare in Fair Lawn, one of Bergen county’s largest boroughs, will be home to a new senior living concept from some of the most prominent names in the business.
Work formally began in November to transform a 1.88-acre parcel at 16-00 River Road into a three-story senior housing complex. A building that formerly housed a TD Bank on the land was torn down to make way for the new development, which residents and visitors will start to see rise at the property in the coming months.
The endeavor is a joint venture between Trammell Crow Company (TCC), a subsidiary of CBRE Group, and Chelsea Senior Living, a leader in senior housing and care. The effort, to be branded The Chelsea at Fair Lawn upon completion, will be the town’s first independent, assisted living, and memory care community.
The project was designed by Warren-based Douglas Coleman & Associates and IMC Construction is serving as the development’s general contractor. The two-building facility will include 26 independent living units separate from 67 assisted living or memory care units, with select underground parking available to independent living residents.
Amenities for eventual residents will include 24-hour professional services, three meals per day prepared by an executive chef, weekly housekeeping, laundry service, daily activities, themed parties and events, premium therapy programs, a full-service beauty salon, concierge services, and much more.
“Trammell Crow Company is pleased to partner with Chelsea Senior Living and Valley Bank on our firm’s first senior living community in northern New Jersey,” said Cheri Clarke-Doyle, Senior Vice President for TCC’s Northeast Metro business unit. “The demand for senior housing, especially in the northeast, has grown significantly.”
Work on the project is expected to advance quickly in the coming months and the complex is anticipated to be completed by December 2022.
