More options for slices and pies have come to the block of Jersey City between the Grove Street PATH Station and the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza as Basile’s Pizza has launched their newest restaurant.

Earlier this summer, the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District announced that the Hoboken-based pizzeria would be coming to 116 Newark Avenue. Basile’s has been in business for over a decade, opening their Hoboken outpost at 89 Washington Street back in 2011.

The ownership behind Basile’s run eight other pizzerias in Manhattan under the names Little Italy and Rosa’s. The restaurant celebrated this grand opening earlier this month by giving customers free slices, which include varieties like chicken ricotta, white spinach, or chicken and mushroom.

Several rolls and garlic knots are also featured at Basile’s, which promises to bring the late-night hours they are known for in Hoboken to Newark Avenue. Basile’s arrival is part of a reworking at the troubled Grove Square property, which has been a revolving door for businesses over the years.

Basile’s will soon be joined at the Newark Avenue building by Boots & Bones, a barbeque restaurant from the ownership team behind The Ashford. That restaurant will feature a menu from Kenny Callaghan, who served as the original chef at New York City’s Blue Smoke.
