An Italian café that has been expanding almost every year since launching in 2020 is opening what will be their flagship spot in Jersey City, as Alessio’s has begun work on their newest location.

Construction has recently ramped up at 125 Newark Avenue, which was formerly home to Roman Nose. The Italian restaurant closed late last year after a 13-year run, and the space will soon be home to Alessio’s, which will set up shop just across the street from the Grove Street PATH Station along the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza.

Alessio’s was initially launched on Park Avenue in Hoboken six years ago and has expanded to a storefront in Jersey City’s The Heights neighborhood and to a spot within Hoboken’s ResilenCity ParkThe brand opened its most recent location in Weehawken last year.

The café was founded by Weehawken resident Luca Infantino, who named the business after his son. The business empire also includes Casa Italia, an Italian market that opened in 2025, located across from Alessio’s original location at 600 Park Avenue in Hoboken.

The menu at Alessio’s is an all-day affair, starting with breakfast sandwiches and pastries and moving toward paninis, pizza, salads, and pasta in the later hours. The café is also recognized for its creative sandwich program, where certain menu items support rotating charitable causes.

An opening date for what will be Alessio’s second Jersey City location has not yet been announced.
