The long wait for recreational cannabis sales in Jersey City is set to end over the coming week as both Ript Dispensary and FLWR are slated to launch in the coming days.

The race to be the first cannabis dispensary in Jersey City with recreational sales will be won by an unlikely vendor in the shadow of the Pulaski Skyway. Mayor Steve Fulop helped Ript Dispensary cut the ribbon at 220 Broadway last month when they initially opened for medicinal sales.

The company’s website, which extends an invite to “get ript together,” offers flowers, prerolls, concentrates, vapes, and edibles. Their recreational sales program is slated to begin September 29.

On the complete opposite end of the city, FLWR will be launching their recreational cannabis sales on October 6. The first dispensary to open Downtown launched over the summer at 141 Newark Avenue.

FLWR is woman-owned and operated by Jersey City locals. The business believes in providing functional care tailored to every patient and customer, featuring products that are mood-enhancing as well as pain-relieving.

Jersey City saw a mad rush of applications last year from hopefuls looking to open cannabis dispensaries throughout the city. The moves led to widespread speculation as to what businesses would open first.

Besides the dispensaries, several consumption lounges are in the works throughout the city’s neighborhoods. Planned lounges include spaces at the upcoming Cream Dispensary in Downtown, The Other Side in The Heights, and Medusa in McGinley Square.
