East Orange’s municipal government is continuing to receive applications for new residential developments. Now, another project is being proposed for the Essex County city.
A company named 227 NWST Urban Renewal, LLC has plans for a building with 90 apartments at 227 North Walnut Street, according to a notice for nearby property owners. The property, which is currently undeveloped, is located between Park Avenue and Hamilton Street near Paul Robeson Stadium.
State business filings indicate that 227 NWST Urban Renewal, LLC was incorporated in March.
The notice says that 113 parking spaces would be provided as part of the project. The site is within a mile and a half of the Brick Church, East Orange, and Watsessing Avenue train stations as well as the Park Avenue light rail stop. New Jersey Transit’s 41 bus to Downtown Newark and Orange operates on Park Avenue near the premises.
The East Orange Planning Board was scheduled to hear the firm’s application for the proposed apartment building during its virtual meeting on Wednesday, April 7, at 7:00 p.m., according to the notice.
ERCT Capital Group’s website says that a four-story development at this location is projected to be completed in 2022 and features undated renderings of a residential project, but the notice did not mention whether the group is involved with this application.
Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the East Orange Planning Board and other commissions are subject to change.
