East Coast wine and gourmet burger hotspot Zinburger is projecting a late July/early August opening for its location at Newport Centre Mall in Jersey City. You may have tasted its upscale menu at its most recent location in Edison or any one of the chain’s 12 others.

The restaurant’s namesake burger is topped with manchego cheese and Zinfandel braised onions, standing alongside the Kobe burger, topped with Vermont cheddar and wild mushrooms, and the Samburger, served with applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, and Thousand Island. Burgers can be paired with a hand-picked list of 23 wines and a full bar.

The job fair happens at the store’s Newport Centre location now through Saturday, July 16, daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They’re looking to hire nearly 200 people for their first Hudson County location. You can apply online at www.zinburger.com before visiting the job fair at 30 Mall Drive West from July 7th through July 16th.

  1. Interesting to see them pick a mid-tier mall like Newport for this “upscale” chain. Brand seems designed to appeal to the millennial crowd [burgers + wine bar], which visits enclosed shopping centers less frequently. I’m in that crowd and have been living in JC for almost a year, can see Newport from my apartment, but have only went there once. Maybe they got a great deal on rent?

  2. Eric, Newport Mall is typically teeming with people from all demographics. In particular, you get a lot of couples who go to AMC and then hit up Cheesecake Factory – I can see this place taking some of that business.

Depending on the lunchtime offerings, they may be able to soak up some of the workers from the offices nearby. In the summer, they’re all eating and socializing along the harbor over their lunch breaks, I imagine Zinburger could attract some of that business during the winter months.

  3. Eric, it’s clear you’re new to this area. If you know what Newport mall was like 20, 10, even 5 years ago, it was totally different. It is certainly looked at as upscale now compared to what it used to be.
