A shop selling highly customizable ice cream sandwiches made exclusively from homemade components will soon be adding some sweetness to one of the city’s main retail corridors.

Westwood-based Stack Creamery will be opening its second location at 465 Central Avenue. The business, which launched just last year, has been hard at work converting a former real estate office into their latest outpost and has outfitted the space with a full commercial kitchen and a customer serving area.

The family-owned company is operated by three siblings, two of which left their careers to start the endeavor. In agreement regarding their favorite childhood dessert, the shop strives for the highest-quality ice cream sandwiches by using made-from-scratch, original recipe cookies and pairing them with premium locally made ice cream.

Stack Creamery features over a dozen cookies and ice cream flavors plus toppings to add on, which allows anyone to create their own version of the perfect ice cream sandwich. Cookie choices at the shop run from birthday cake to snickerdoodle to s’mores and both brownies or glazed donuts can be used by customers to create their treats, which can feature different top and bottom cookies if desired.

Traditional ice cream flavors like chocolate, strawberry, or mint sit alongside concoctions like banana crème pie, dulce de leche, matcha green tea, mudslide, sea salt caramel pretzel, and cotton candy. Stack Creamery’s menu includes a few vegan options that use oat and coconut milk like the peanut butter and jelly flavor.

Ice cream sandwiches designed by customers can be topped with flourishes including brownie crumbs, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Oreos, sprinkles, or mini marshmallows. Stack Creamery also serves ice cream cones, cups, and a “Bigwich” ice cream cake plus a few decadent seasonal creations like this month’s shamrock mint Oreo cookie sandwich or a gingerbread cookie with peppermint stick ice cream version.

Ownership behind Stack Creamery says they do not have an exact opening date nailed down yet but did disclose that they are “pretty close” to wrapping up work at the Central Avenue storefront. They anticipate their hours running from noon until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, staying open an additional hour until 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
