A shuttered theater that dates back almost a century along Atlantic City’s boardwalk will be opening next month as an entertainment venue managed by Spiegelworld called The Hook featuring a new restaurant and four unique bars.
Las Vegas-based producer Spiegelworld will be launching The Hook just steps from the Bally’s complex along the Atlantic Ocean. The effort will revitalize the former Warner Theater site that originally opened in 1929 and played host to a variety of endeavors before the auditorium and main lobby were demolished in the 1970s.
The facade of the theater is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been restored as part of the process of bringing The Hook to life. Spiegelworld’s Las Vegas shows blend circus, burlesque, comedy, and jaw-dropping acrobatics for an adults-only spectacle that will be operating in Atlantic City every week of the year.
The 422-seat theater will boast a show directed by Britain’s leading comedy director Cal McCrystal when tickets go on sale next month. The Hook will also boast an outpost for Spiegelworld’s Italian-American psychedelic restaurant Superfrico along with a myriad of discoverable bars with an elevated cocktail program curated by award-winning mixologist Niko Novick.
The Hook venue is part of Caesars Entertainment’s $400 million investment in Atlantic City, which includes the region’s first Nobu restaurant and hotel project and the East Coast’s first Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen restaurant.
While an exact opening date for the Atlantic City spin on Spiegelworld has not been announced, the company anticipates a June 2023 launch of the facility. Those interested in keeping updated on the project can follow them on Instagram at the handle @thehook_ac or visit their website for more information.
The Hook joins other notable projects coming to Atlantic City this summer that include soon-to-open Island Waterpark along the boardwalk and a major renovation of The Borgata.
