The hospitality scene in the Brick City recently gained a new entry as Newark Standard Bar & Kitchen has launched in the city’s Ironbound neighborhood.
Situated at 68 Wilson Avenue, the restaurant is inside the existing The Standard Café. In the evening, the breakfast and lunch scene of that business yields to a speakeasy-style sports bar and restaurant that offers a later-night dining experience.
The biggest difference from The Standard Café is obviously their full bar, which boasts handcrafted cocktails and a menu featuring gourmet burgers, brick-oven pizzas, tapas, and more.

Entrée highlights include a wild salmon, a New York strip, and dishes that pay tribute to the local neighborhood, like a Brazilian burger topped with grilled pineapple, smoked bacon, crispy potato sticks, and a fried egg.
Pizzas are also a big part of the Newark Standard Bar & Kitchen experience, and they include their Iberica pie, which uses local Don Rodrigo Iberico Bellota Ham. The restaurant frequently hosts live DJs and watch parties for big sports events.

Newark Standard Bar & Kitchen is closed Mondays, but is now open Tuesday through Thursday from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m. Their weekend hours run from 11 a.m. until midnight, with a 10 p.m. close on Sunday. They can be followed on Instagram at the handle @thenewarkstandard.
