A growing area of Hoboken could soon be getting a modern fitness concept that’s always open as the rapidly expanding Hotworx brand is targeting an outpost in the Mile Square City.
The company recently submitted an application to the Planning Board to revamp 61-63 Paterson Avenue, a two-story property that is adjacent to Southwest Park. It has been the home of Mola Iron Works for decades, but that business could be making way for Hotworx.
For those uninitiated, Hotworx provides unlimited, 24-hour access to a variety of virtually instructed, infrared sauna workouts to members. The company operates over 800 locations worldwide, and while there are no Hudson County locations yet, they do have spots in New York City and New Jersey towns that include Livingston, Garwood, Whippany, and Middletown.

The overhaul of the building for their Paterson Avenue location was designed by Hoboken-based firm MVMK Architecture + Design. Hotworx would be offering their patented infrared sauna training at the property, which includes a “3D Training” method that blends heat, infrared energy, and exercise for a deep, detoxifying workout.
Hoboken’s Planning Board is slated to hear the project’s application during their December 8 meeting, previously deeming the submission complete earlier this month. Hotworx is the latest business to make moves towards the southwest portion of Hoboken, which is seeing an influx of amenities as of late.
Southwest Park was significantly expanded over the summer, while Dumbo Market and Nana’s Dim Sum & Dumplings have both confirmed they will open in the neighborhood. A 2,223-square-foot lease has also been signed at the Southend Lofts development by a business called Under Pressure Espresso Bar, a craft coffee concept.
