A store called Dune + Salt, which is affiliated with the apparel shop The Girt in Sea Girt, held a soft opening on Saturday, November 23, in uptown Hoboken.
The owners said they want customers to think of it as a “coastal”-themed shop rather than a beach shop. Michael Martinez of Hoboken and Chris Cox of Madison said it’ll have a “coastal vibe.”
The store, on 12th Street off of Washington, sells home goods and clothes, including clothes with its own label and home goods with a focus on Made in the USA.
The space, whose address is 1200 Washington Street, was previously used for piano lessons and small businesses.
While Hoboken’s side streets may not offer the same visibility as the main drag of Washington Street, the store is only a few doors down from the corner, which holds the Mason Civic Association and its art displays.
An Instagram post last week showed the store’s new wood shelves installed on brick walls. Then a subsequent post announced that the store will have its official grand opening on Saturday, November 30 — Small Business Saturday.
