One of Hoboken’s most notable recent developments is adding another food and drink option to its growing portfolio, as New York City’s Orbital Kitchens will be bringing a new endeavor called Alto Food Hall to New Jersey.
The Taurasi Group announced that they have signed a lease to bring Alto to Southend Lofts, a 110-home luxury condominium community located at 38 Jackson Street in Hoboken. Spanning 3,100 square feet, the food hall will feature about 15 proprietary restaurant concepts across a wide range of cuisines, plus a smoothie café and indoor seating adjacent to the building’s atrium.
Orbital Kitchens develops and operates an expanding portfolio of proprietary restaurant brands that integrate technology, centralized kitchens, and delivery operations. They already operate five locations in New York City.
“When we visited Southend Lofts, we immediately felt it was a great fit for what we’re building with Alto,” said Russell Yam, Co-Founder and COO of Orbital Kitchens. “It’s rare to find a mixed-use community centered around a public gathering space like the atrium, and we saw an opportunity to bring something new to Hoboken.”
Restaurant concepts expected to be featured at the Southend Lofts location include Little Mint, a Thai concept; Lucky Mao, offering modern Chinese takeout; Braddah’s Hawaiian BBQ; Glazed Hen, specializing in Korean fried chicken; La Birria de Res, a birria taco concept; Naka Sushi; and Starter’s Pizza, a new individual-sized sourdough pizza brand.
Customers will be able to order through self-service kiosks, the Alto mobile app, or third-party delivery platforms. The food hall is expected to open in early 2027.

Alto is set to join supermarket Southend Market, Nana’s Dim Sum + Dumplings, Under Pressure Espresso Bar, active lifestyle brand and community fitness club City Fitness, and an Early Childhood Education Center for the Hoboken Public School District as retail tenants at the property.
