One of the largest financial firms in the U.S. has completed their move to Jersey City – in a new space along the Hudson River Waterfront in the Exchange Place neighborhood.
Lord, Abbett & Co. has officially moved the firm’s global headquarters to 30 Hudson Street, a complex unofficially known as the Goldman Sachs tower. The company’s employees won’t be reporting to space too far from their previous home, as Lord Abbett set up shop at 90 Hudson Street back in 2000.
The new headquarters occupies the top five floors of 30 Hudson, which sports sprawling views of the Hudson River and features spaces specifically built to accommodate the full range of the firm’s activities. The design hopes to help employees thrive in the office, creating a space to prioritize their health and well-being.
Perks of the new digs include executive offices, open work areas, multipurpose conference rooms, a digital content studio, and an auditorium for firm-wide meetings.
“In every place that Lord Abbett has called home, there has been an understanding that our office must reflect the culture of the firm,” said Douglas B. Sieg, CEO and Managing Partner. “Each of our offices has reflected the needs of our firm and empowered us to create an environment where our people can succeed and where we can deliver for our clients.”
Lord Abbett employees can enjoy a game room, fitness lounge, and training rooms within the complex. 30 Hudson also features The Exchange, a double-height space on the 40th floor with a commercial-grade kitchen, event areas, an A/V booth, and a cafe. Several restaurants are also located on the ground floor of the building.
“Our new headquarters embraces the storied history of our firm while pushing forward into a future of work that prioritizes collaboration, innovation, and learning. That happens best when we’re together in a shared workplace, and I am confident that this new space will enable us to achieve our vision of being the most respected asset manager in the world,” he added.
Lord Abbett, founded in 1929, is one of the oldest money management firms in America. The company signed a 15-year lease for its new headquarters in 2022 and worked with HLW to design the space, with JT Magen as the project’s construction manager.
“Our new global headquarters doubles down on our commitment to the Jersey City community, which Lord Abbett has been a part of for the past 22 years,” said Sieg. “Securing this new center of gravity for our firm in our hometown reflects the recognition of our history and our dedication to leadership in a new era of work.”
