Sky-high developments tend to dominate the conversation in terms of Jersey City’s revitalization but smaller projects in low-rise areas are still chugging along in a variety of neighborhoods.
Work is moving nicely at one of those properties at 262-266 New York Avenue. Jersey Digs first broke the news on plans to revamp the address way back in 2018 right as The Heights was turning into one of Jersey City’s hottest neighborhoods.
Situated just a block away from Palisade Avenue, the endeavor comes from local firm Academy Capital. Plans for the development were drawn up by Union City-based Pereiras Architects Ubiquitous and include ten condominium units alongside a 1,350-square-foot live/work space on the building’s ground floor.
The units in the future development skew larger, with the remaining ten apartments breaking down as three one-bedrooms, five two-bedroom, and two three-bedroom spaces. The project is also set to include six parking spaces on the ground floor plus washer/dryers in the basement.
The four-story development is slated to utilize modular brick on much of the exterior alongside dusty charcoal trespa meteon panels. Academy Capital has posted a few construction updates on their website and has a target completion date for the project of June 2023.
