A growing hospitality brand that offers a modern take on the classic Japanese sushi counter will be launching their latest location along the Hoboken waterfront next week as Sushi By Bou prepares to hit the Mile Square City.

The omakase-style restaurant will be taking up residence on the ground floor of the W Hotel at 225 River Street. The space is situated just off the main lobby and “Living Room” lounge area and will mark the company’s second New Jersey endeavor following their initial Jersey City location inside Ani Ramen which opened just about three years ago.

Hoboken’s take on Sushi By Bou will be open to the public on January 14 and to celebrate, the restaurant is running a “Sushi for the People” event. The sweepstakes, open to all through their website, offers a chance to win an invite to a private 12-course dinner on opening night that will feature complimentary omakase and specialty cocktails.

Sushi by Bou’s Hoboken location will feature a customized theme in keeping with the restaurant’s other locations, with the W Hotel version drawing inspiration from New Jersey rappers of 90’s hip hop. The dining area features hand-drawn and watercolor graffiti murals in pastel hues commissioned by local Japanese artists.

Diners will take up residence at a white stone sushi counter that seats 12 to enjoy a selection of craft cocktails, imported sake, and other fine Japanese spirits as seasoned sushi chefs guide them through the timed Omakase discovery experience.

Delicacies featured at Sushi by Bou include yellowtail, spotted prawn, salmon roe, scallop, fatty tuna, BBQ eel, and their signature surf and turf variety.

The hand rolls at the restaurant promise the freshest locally sourced fish along with additional a la carte specialties and seasonal mochi ice cream for dessert. Hours at the Hoboken location will run from 5:00 to 11:00 pm seven days a week and reservations can be made at sushibybou.com.

The impending Hoboken restaurant is part of hospitality group simplevenue’s major Sushi by Bou expansion plans this year that come on the heels of outposts opening in Miami and Manhattan’s Flatiron District last month. The Hoboken location will bring Sushi by Bou’s total to 15 restaurants across New York, New Jersey, Chicago, and South Florida since initially launching in 2017.
