Uncle Momo, originally known as Uncle Moustache, has been serving diners a fusion of Lebanese and French cuisine for brunch, lunch, and dinner at its sole location near the Montclair Art Museum since 2012, with menu items ranging from eggs with fresh pita, hummus, and tabouli to Nutella crepes to moussaka with lamb.

Now, its owners are in the process of bringing the concept to Downtown Jersey City (h/t Jersey City Upfront). The new location will be at 289 Grove Street, at the corner of Mercer Street, in the space that was occupied by the Marco & Pepe restaurant for over a decade until earlier this year. The building was sold for $3.15 million in March to 289 Realty, LLC, according to NJ Parcels data.

Ali Lyoussi, the Co-Owner of Uncle Momo, told Jersey Digs that the restaurant’s new location should open within 2.5 to three months following the permits process. Lyoussi said that although the existing kitchen in the space will remain, he is planning some modifications to make the space look “bistro style” like the Montclair location.

“I think my restaurant will be very great over there,” Lyoussi explained, adding that the Jersey City location could potentially serve breakfast as well.
