One of the higher-profile restaurants set to open in one of the Garden State’s top food towns is officially taking reservations as MM by Morimoto will be open by the end of this month.
World-renowned Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, in partnership with Montclair Hospitality Group, is opening the restaurant at 193 Glenridge Avenue in Montclair on July 31. The expansive restaurant, totaling 12,779 square feet, hopes to bring Chef Morimoto’s signature blend of modern Japanese cuisine and bold culinary artistry to the heart of Montclair’s vibrant dining scene.
Highlights of the space include a specially designed omakase bar and a dining room with over 200 seats. The menu will feature exclusive cuts of fish flown in from Japan, Japanese and Australian Wagyu, plus domestic USDA Prime steak.

“I’m happy to officially open our doors in Montclair,” said Chef Morimoto when announcing the launch date. “This restaurant showcases the premium ingredients and culinary techniques I am passionate about. I’m excited to share this unique dining experience with this wonderful New Jersey community.”
Signature Morimoto favorites like his tuna pizza, sushi, and sashimi will be joined by unique dishes such as Tacos Two Ways, Toro Tartare, and A5 Wagyu Carpaccio. A full bar offers handcrafted cocktails and an extensive wine, sake, and beer list.
MM by Morimoto is the latest endeavor from Montclair Hospitality Group, known of their Ani Ramen empire and buzzy restaurants like PastaRAMEN. Founded by Luck Sarabhayavanija, the new restaurant is a full circle moment.
“I started Montclair Hospitality Group in 2014 in my hometown with the mission to launch the world’s leading dining concepts,” says Sarabhayavanija. “We’re beyond excited to have Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto opening his first MM by Morimoto with our team; it’s a career milestone happening just over 10 years since we opened Ani Ramen on Bloomfield Avenue and it’s truly a dream come true.”
MM by Morimoto will also offer sushi boxes available to go soon after opening their doors. Reservations for the restaurant starting on July 31 can now be made through Resy.
