A premium coffee brand that has exploded onto the Garden State scene over the last two years now has an official presence in Downtown Jersey City, with Forum Coffee launching its latest endeavor in a space near the Hudson River.
The company, which was formed in 2024 by married partners Courtney Foti and Phelan McGreal, is a true New Jersey effort. Both founders were raised in the Garden State and spent a decade working in New York City in law and finance before returning home to start their business.
The pair started Forum Coffee out of what they saw as a void of non-chain coffee shops presence outside of New York City. They launched their first location in East Hanover shortly after, proudly claiming they started with no outside investors.
The name itself draws inspiration from ancient Rome, where the forum was the vibrant center of day-to-day civic life. The brand currently has 11 locations throughout New Jersey, with two opening in Hoboken last year and another recently opening in Bergen County’s Hillsdale.
Forum Coffee’s Jersey City spot sits at 200 Greene Street, at the base of Sable, and uses 100% USDA Certified Organic coffee beans that are house-roasted. The shop utilizes Mahlkönig on-demand grinders with a 3-group La Marzocco espresso machine for a superior experience.
Drink menu highlights include a crème brûlée latte, a French toast latte with maple and cinnamon notes, and a cannoli latte. Other caffeinated treats include a peppermint frozen hot chocolate or an espresso milkshake that includes a shot of espresso.
Smoothies, protein shakes, and fresh-squeezed juices are also on the menu at Forum Coffee, which has ambitious plans to open as many as 10 more locations throughout New Jersey soon. Their Jersey City outpost is currently open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, with an earlier 6 a.m. opening on weekdays.
