A unique sandwich spot with an expansive menu will be coming to Jersey City next year as Dutch’s Sandwich Shop will be bringing their second Hudson County outpost to a Downtown space.
The shop will be taking over the former Cafe Dolma space at 270 Grand Street. Dutch’s Sandwich Shop comes courtesy of owner Amir Kamal, who grew up in New York City and named the shop after his beloved bulldog.
The original shop in Montclair opened shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic, with the business expanding to 86 Garden Street in Hoboken earlier this year. They also run a spot in Elmwood Park, making Jersey City their fourth location.
The sheer volume of sandwiches at Dutch’s can seem almost a bit overwhelming, but they have the goods across the board. The menu starts with a breakfast portion that includes their take on a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a brioche bun, the Dutch Daddy, which mixes hot pastrami, egg, and muenster cheese, or the Highlander, which features Gochujang beefsteak, egg, shredded mozzarella, kimchi, and spicy mayo.

The menu features a selection of wraps and both cold and hot sandwiches, spanning a wide variety. Some of the more colorfully named and assembled sandwiches include the Cheese Wizz Khalifa, which sports house roast beef, Cheez Whiz, and crispy onions, while the chicken Caesar cheesesteak combines grated parmesan, romaine, and Caesar dressing on a semolina hero.
The chicken cutlet sandwiches at Dutch’s are a highlight. Their Drunken Chicken features shredded mozzarella, grated parmesan, vodka sauce, and basil oil. While their Getting Figgy With It sandwich adds prosciutto, burrata, arugula, and fig jam to the mix.
If that’s not enough, sides like fried chicken wings, seasoned bacon ranch fries, falafel, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings round out the menu.
Dutch’s has not announced an opening date for its Jersey City location yet, but you can follow it on Instagram at @dutchssandwichshop for updates.
