A variety of retail and office tenants are coming to a new mixed-use development in Montclair. The first three commercial leases at the new arts and entertainment destination next to the Wellmont Theater include an art school, an indoor rock climbing gym, and a medical practice.

Slated to open in the first two quarters of 2021, One River School, The Gravity Vault, and Summit Medical Group will energize the Downtown Montclair neighborhood and reflect the developers’ ongoing efforts along Bloomfield Avenue.

One River School launched in Englewood, New Jersey, in 2012 and has expanded to 13 locations across the country, with a proprietary teaching technique that makes a wide variety of art and digital programs accessible to students of all ages. The 3,300-square-foot Montclair facility will be state-of-the-art and include an exhibition area for showcasing regional artists’ work.

The Gravity Vault Indoor Rock Gyms will open its 11th outpost in the custom-designed space, totaling 12,000 square feet, and will be the first facility devoted entirely to bouldering. The outpost will also feature an area for yoga, a boutique fitness gym, a group exercise area, and an expanded retail shop.

Summit Medical Group will occupy 40,000 square feet of office space at 1 Seymour Plaza. The multi-specialty medical practice is headquartered in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, and has over 80 locations across the state.

The mixed-use destination was developed in partnership by Ironstate Development Company and Brookfield Properties. Designed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve Architects and Minno Wasko with interiors by Kara Mann Design, the 2.5-acre development along Bloomfield Avenue at Seymour Street features two mid-rise brick buildings comprised of rental apartments, office space, retail frontage, and parking. The entire development anchors the Wellmont Theater and the Wellmont Arts Plaza, a 12,000-square-foot public outdoor space designed by Montclair-based Arterial, LLC.
