SJP Properties’ The Modern, a two-tower, 47-story residential tower in Fort Lee is set to house a new 7,000-square-foot Cuban, Asian, and American-inspired restaurant called Ventanas. Chef David Burke will join Alex Duran as culinary managing director while chef Ricardo Cardona will oversee the kitchen at Ventanas.

The restaurant will accommodate up to 150 guests in the dining room, 50 people at the bar, and will be able to accommodate 75 patrons in a private event space. An outdoor terrace will also accommodate up to 100 guests.

“Latin dining is intended to be an immersive experience, with the ambiance just as important as the food itself,” Duran said in a news release. “Chef Cardona is recognized for his fusion of Latin, French and American cuisines, and his creativity and dynamism will set the tone in providing guests with an inspired dining experience. When coupled with Chef Burke’s unmistakable influence, and the lively, yet elegant environment we have created with our décor, we know Ventanas will quickly become a favorite destination along the Gold Coast.”

The Modern’s two phases consist of 900 luxury rental units and 150,000 square feet of amenity space. Ventanas is set to open during the Spring of 2019.

Duran is the owner of Son Cubano in West New York. Cardona is the executive chef of Lua, Hudson River Café, and Sofrito in New York.

“Welcoming Ventanas to The Modern will not only create an exceptional new dining experience for the region, with two renowned chefs, an inspired menu concept and a stunning park setting,” Steven J. Pozycki, CEO of SJP Properties, said in a news release. “It will also serve as an incredible amenity for residents of The Modern, who will soon be able to order room service and poolside food service as if they were living in a five-star hotel.”

“We pride ourselves on providing our residents with the very best in lifestyle services, and this latest amenity makes it clear that The Modern is the true standard for luxury living in the region,” added Mr. Pozycki.

A two-acre park immediately adjacent to Ventanas is also being developed by SJP Properties. The developer said it expects the park to open at the end of this year. SJP is also donating funds for a 13,000-square-foot public theater and public museum in Fort Lee.
