A coffee brand that has exploded in recent years will open its first Garden State location near the Hudson River, as Blank Street is officially coming to Jersey City.

Founded in Brooklyn in 2020 by Vinay Menda and Issam Freiha, Blank Street started from humble roots as a mobile coffee cart nestled in the garden of the Wythe diner in Brooklyn. But the brand is now omnipresent in cities like New York, Boston, Washington D.C., and the United Kingdom with dozens of locations.

The fast-growing chain has signed a lease for space at the ground floor of 101 Hudson Street, which had previously been occupied by an Au Bon Pain location but has sat vacant for years. The storefront is just steps from Exchange Place, the Hudson Bergen Light Rail, and the neighborhood’s PATH station.

Blank Street is known for its compact kiosks and unique, rotating drink menu. For its summer offerings, the brand recently launched a collection of ice cream-inspired drinks, including a cookies and cream matcha and a Rocky Road latte.

The company also offers a $22 per week drink membership plan that allows subscribers to order up to 14 drinks weekly, or a cheaper $11 per week option for those that prefer “the classics” off their menu. The deal is available at all Blank Street locations and presumably will be offered at their Exchange Place space.

Blank Street has not given any indication as to when their Jersey City location could be up and running, but temporary signage is already posted at their future home on Hudson Street.
