A health-conscious Hoboken restaurant that has expanded significantly since launching in 2019 is heading north, as Alfalfa will officially be arriving in Bergen County in the coming days.
Initially opening at 1110 Washington Street along Hoboken’s main street, Alfalfa took over the former Schnackenberg’s Luncheonette with seasonally rotating salads, wraps, breakfast burritos, and gluten-free doughnuts that quickly became a hit with locals.
A second outpost opened in Santa Monica, California, and the company eventually expanded into Jersey City in 2023 as well. Their recent Downtown Hoboken location opened in 2024, with a Princeton outpost following.

Alfalfa’s brand seeks to “inspire healthier communities through balanced food and joyful experiences,” focusing on high-quality, local products from vendors they can trust. Their upcoming location at 725 River Road in Edgewater will launch on June 6, with perks and giveaways throughout the day.
The first 100 guests at the Edgewater Alfalfa outpost will receive a “goodie bag” including gift cards, local favorites, partner products, and more. A raffle with a grand prize worth over $800 is in the works, and one lucky guest will make Willy Wonka proud by finding a $250 “golden ticket” in their bag.
Alfalfa’s Edgewater location will have operating hours from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily and will join a retail complex that includes a boatload of notable tenants, including Trader Joe’s, Paris Baguette, and Orangetheory.
