One of New Jersey’s premier coffee roasters and cafes has launched their latest endeavor in Jersey City, as Modcup is open for business in the Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood.
The coffee brand recently began service at their newest location at 360 Communipaw Avenue. Their iconic “Caffeine and Dreams” neon sign is accounted for, as are all the concoctions that locals have embraced since the Modcup was founded over a decade ago.
The specialty coffee roaster began in 2013 as a single mobile coffee cart slinging cups in Hoboken, with founder Travas Clifton eventually purchasing a 1969 Citreon coffee truck to run Modcup out of Jersey City’s Exchange Place neighborhood. Modcup has since transformed the brand into a local coffee empire, including three cafes, a roastery, and a brisk online business.
Modcup’s first brick-and-mortar location has been a staple on Palisade Avenue in The Heights, while their later expansions came at 25 Senate Place and a Hoboken spot on 4th Street. The business has even bigger plans in the pipeline, as Modcup is also opening a massive new cafe and roastery inside the Everton development that will be their first Downtown Jersey City location.
Modcup’s latest spot on Communipaw Avenue is now open daily from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. They can be followed on Instagram at the handle @modcupcoffee.
